TCUnation could become the voice of conservatism. The time to join is now.
A few days ago, my good friend Earl contacted me and said he had a new project he was working on. This was nothing new or unusual, for as long as I’ve known Earl, he has always had a brilliant idea or two knocking around in his brain. Most of our experience was with the Internet, at the ISP that Earl started, nurtured, grew, and sold, so most of the projects consisted of one of Earl’s ideas for an Internet venture, and then our concerted efforts to bring it to life. I was thrown for a loop in 2005 when Earl contacted me to “help film a documentary about Hurricane Katrina refugees.” We headed for Biloxi, did some filming, but soon the cameras and microphones were put aside and his mission was simply helping whomever he could, however he could. Shortly after that trip most of Earl’s attention was focused abroad, doing humanitarian work in Thailand and the Phillipines, and mine was on a small business I had started in the middle of Nowhere, Alabama. It has struggled, mightily, and Earl knew that. So a few days ago when I opened that 4 word email I knew something was up. “What are you doing?” was all it said, but, I knew what it really meant.
He pointed me here, to TCUnation, and I began to peruse the site and its content. At the time, I wasn’t aware of the facebook group, or the relationships that had been growing the previous few months. “I need some help running it…you know, admin….moderating…..promoting….that kind of stuff.” Sure. No problem. I’d be glad to help. Earl’s charismatic brilliance was working its magic again, and I didn’t even “get it” yet.
For the next few days, I just visited the site, taking it in, learning who was who, and that REAL people around the country had the same concerns I do. It was comforting. It meant I wasn’t crazy, or necessarily becoming a bitter, old, bald man. There were other old, bald men out there saying the same things I do, and they weren’t bitter, or crazy! Heck, there were young men and women with GREAT hair saying the same things! This is GREAT! TCUnation had brought us together.
Bringing us together……it hit me like a ton of bricks. This wasn’t just another conservative website. It wasn’t just the conservative facebook group, or the myspace Sara Palin page. It wasn’t just hannity.com, or rushlimbaugh.com. On the surface, it was similar….but underneath there was a subtle, yet significant difference: It was a NETWORK of ALL of those sites, and ALL OF THOSE PEOPLE. I could come to one place, and find information on 4-5 topics that interest me, and 4-5 more that, until now, I didn’t realize interested me.
TCUnationoffers the opportunity for conservative groups to unite in a single grassroots movement without altering their day to day efforts in any way. The Gun Owners Association (God bless you all!) can continue to focus ALL of their effort to preserve our Constitutional rights. The Sara Palin groups (yes, I LOVE her too!) can continue to focus all of their effort to supporting her career (and hopefully her campaign). The Pro Life groups, capitalist economists, Free Speech advocates, even the GOP groups can continue their individual efforts while at the same time joining forces with other conservatives to create a strong, united, significant voice that speaks for ALL conservatives. TCUnation will stand for and promote conservatism and conservative representation in all phases of our society. It is the groups WITHIN TCUnation that will speak to the individual issues. While the Pro Life group may not have the same concerns as the Gun Owners group, they both are seeking conservative principals, and with the power of a single, grassroots network of potentially millions of members supporting them, their individual messages will garner more attention, and have more influence. TCUnation is different from everything else out there, because it IS everything else out there, united together in numbers and strength.
Spread the word. Invite anyone and everyone who shares our principals of strong, conservative responsibility. As the facebook group has shown us, there is power in numbers. The most important thing any of us can do, RIGHT NOW, is grow this network. If you belong to other conservative groups, let them know about TCUnation. Email your friends, tell your neighbors, bookmark it at the public library, take a sign to the Super Bowl, put it in your email and Internet signatures. The more members and affiliations we can nurture, the more significance and attention we will have to effect change.
Make no mistake, this is a REAL opportunity. If we grasp it, embrace it, nurture it, and WORK for it, I sincerely believe we can create a new, strong voice of reason (and more importantly, OF THE PEOPLE) in 2012, and that we actually can make a difference.

Man these guys really know what they are doing!
